Pease Park
Planted: 08 March 2022
As part of Wakefield Council’s woodland creation programme, they have teamed up with environmental charity Earthwatch Europe to create a Tiny Forest in a corner of Pease Park, Pontefract. The Tiny Forest project will help people learn about and reconnect with nature and involves the local community in helping plant and look after the forest. Schools will be encouraged to use the Tiny Forest as an outdoor classroom. The forest was planted in the shape of an amphitheatre. The Council is planting nearly 60,000 trees this winter and aiming for 600,000 by 2025 and 3 million by 2050. More than 600 trees will be planted in Pease Park as part of the programme.
