Queen's Park, Hinckley
Planted: 26 January 2022
Hinckley's first Tiny Forest was planted on 26th January 2022 in Queen’s Park with help from local schools and residents. The Borough Council has worked with Earthwatch Europe - which is pioneering Tiny Forest in the UK - to plant the new tennis court sized forest in the park, with five more Tiny Forests following on from Queens Park, through the Severn Trent Tiny Forest programme. Over 20 native tree species, including oak, wild service, birch, alder, hazel, blackthorn, rowan, and lime have been planted by local volunteers, members of the borough council’s parks service, and contractors at a special planting session earlier this month. The Tiny Forest will provide an oasis for wildlife and connect people with nature in their local area.
