Frank Bott Avenue
Planted: 23 February 2022
Schoolchildren took part in a science day at Crewe’s first Tiny Forest to help mark the official opening of the small woodland, created by The Guinness Partnership and Earthwatch. The planned community planting day for this Tiny Forest was cancelled due to Storm Eunice, so the forest was planted by landscape contractors, and the public launch postponed. Kieran Mullan, the MP for Crewe and Nantwich, and the Mayor of Crewe, Cllr Tom Dunlop cut the ribbon before the 10 and 11-year-olds took part in their outdoor learning. Year Six pupils from Underwood West Academy set to work monitoring the health of the saplings. They studied the butterflies, bees and bugs, and learned how the trees will be helping the environment by storing carbon and water.
